Ender Sword wrote:What do I actually do with this file?
i tried downloading it then using the 'import patch' feature on the launcher, but it doesn't seem to do anything, just kind of freezes then gives the same 'exception' error, or just does nothing at all. Place inside your Eve Online folder. Restart launcher. It should pick up the patch and patch the game. If it doesn't try starting the launcher with administrator permissions. |

I had this problem once and I had a Steam version of the client I think. Not sure. Don't quote me on this. To avoid it and to get a better control over login name and password, I created another non-Steam account and transferred my character to it.
What prevents your patching? 1. Firewall? Get the windows firewall back to default settings. 2. Permissions on writing files? Try relocating to a different directory or set proper permissions for EVE folder and all children folders. 3. Antivirus software? If a patch needs to modify a big file and your antivirus decides to scan that big file, your launcher may freeze. Turn off antivirus for a bit? 4. Some Eve specific settings? You can try backing first (!) and then deleting the folder c:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\CCP\ Try deleting the launcher cache folder \Eve\launcher\cache\ There are also interesting files in that folder like launcher.2014-05-27.log. It is a text file that may tell you exactly what your launcher tries to do and fails.
Did you mention you have Steamed version of Eve? I am no software engineer but Steam needs to pass a unique ID to Eve Online login servers to allow you to play and that additional step is just another space for problems to occur.
Since you cannot copy the text of the error, try at least to take a screenshot. For Windows 8.1 you can press Win+PrintScreen and the screenshot will be saved in your pictures folder. |

The patch I have uploaded is very recent. Very fresh. It updates a not-so-recent version of the game to the latest one. Your launcher is trying to download a patch that will bridge the gap between a month-old version of the game and the latest one. So that won't work.
Quote: is there anyway to just completely install the current version from scratch? I'd use this if I were you as an option. |

Ender Sword wrote:I have landed there as well, and unfortunately hit the same issue, getting 0.1MB/4.5MB and it just stays there. Do you know if that is hosted somewhere reliable? It means you have a problem with your internet connection or something. Or your web browser. Although I cannot understand how you could download my patch.

Amarth X wrote:- The launcher breaks at each and every expansion release. Or rather, it was always broken but never fixed. - Not a single one of your customers wants the launcher. It adds nothing to the game and it is buggy as hell. - As I wrote this forum post, the forums crashed & burned so I had to rewrite it all again.
Sheer incompetence if I ever saw it. The launcher may have been better. For instance, I'd love the launcher to remember my password and for more than one char. The one major SNAFU I had was probably related to me using a Steam-powered version of the client or something. And since not so many people are complaining about the launcher I believe CCP is doing something right. At least the launcher was working as intended on the current expansion's launch.
And about incompetence. I think it has more to do with priorities, being a small company and focus on other endeavors than incompetence. The launcher is definitely not as shiny and smooth and awesome as Blizzard's Battle.Net app that can launch multiple games, remembers your passwords, preloads big patches and now has out-of-the-game chat but still CCP launcher is very usable. |

You can also try offline installer. http://community.eveonline.com/support/download/offline-installer/
Did you clean up CCP settings after uninstalling the client? c:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\CCP\ |

Can you do a tracert command to Tranquility? Open start menu (if you use Windows), go to Run... and copy-paste
Quote:cmd /k tracert -h 15 -w 800 87.237.38.200

Wendrika wrote:This is what I'm currently getting from that trace thingie. Still can't get the client to download. Connection looks solid to me. In your place I'd try: Resetting Windows firewall to default settings just in case. Using different browsers to try and download the offline installer. Are you sure you don't have any popup blockers, Adguard, Adblock, a couple of antiviruses with paranoid settings?

I am really impressed. You did a lot of work. There is another option. Torrents. EVE Online: Kronos (CCP Games) (Multi/ENG) [L] (v.793961 -+-é 05.06.2014) http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3040432 And the torrent file if you cannot read Russian or use Google Translator. http://uptobox.com/jpi3la6triqh
Wendrika wrote:I'd be happier with a "Welp, I'm out of ideas" than the solution you just provided. I'm not going to buy another account just for the remote change I might get a working client, specially since it probably is a problem on my ISP's end and there's nothing I can do about it.
And no, I am rarely out of ideas. I might also try to upload the client to a Google Drive or the patches at least. But my connection is 512kbps upload and 10Mbps download. So that would take days. |

By the way, people, you are not the only ones suffering from this problem. Some long-time and prominent Eve players have this problem, too. http://eveoganda.blogspot.com/2014/06/1v1-eve-comic-69.html Why he is prominent? I found it out from this source. |

Wendrika wrote:Okay, here's an update.
Finaly after many attempts I managed to make the client work after a clean install. I had to bypass the launcher and execute it straight from the Program Files in the hard drive. After that it was smooth sailing and the game is stable (apart from all my settings being gone).
If you have the same problems as me, use Ved Riru's torrent file and install it. Untill the next patch hits, it should hold up long enough for a "fix" to this hot mess is found, if it is even possible to fix it. Your settings are stored here c:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\CCP\
Instead of using my torrent file people are better off registering on Russia's biggest torrent tracker and keep uploading if they can after downloading because that particular torrent is not so popular and because I am not sure many people located all over the world can download at the same time using one passkey that is stored in that torrent.

Try getting it via torrents Or try to open it via an anonimizer Anonym to community.eveonline.com/support/download/
So many people cannot open this page. Very very surprising. Either Eve Online's firewall's DDoS safeguards need tweaking or Internet service providers need shouting at or maybe parental controls are to blame. |
